Re: Seat Belts
Noticed bus drivers don't seem to wear seat belts. It seems they are breaking the law as not exempt. Taxis are exempt but only if they have a fare on board.

Re: Seat Belts
Yodel transit driver today. No seat belt and texting on his phone while up the bottom of a lorry doing about 50 mph. Dust cart today driver not wearing belt even though they stay in the wagon it seems. His 2 mates didn't belt up either when they jumped in. Are they exempt or does the 50 yards rule a...

Also heard today unmarked police cars are focusing on drivers using mobile phones. 6 points penalty now I think.
I will watch the programme asap. I was interested how the legal situation is regarding minimum wage etc.

Where do I infer it's my report ? I state a BBC reporter. I read the brief points on BBC news online before the programme went out. I would be interested to know the key points raised by the programme though. It's a forum for sharing information. Not for trying to score cheap points off other well m...

Re: Seat Belts
A report yesterday states Amazon drivers are told the Police don't pull delivery drivers for not wearing a seat belt. The undercover BBC reporter also exposed illegal hours per day i.e. over 11, pay below minimum wage and extreme pressure on large workloads with no time for breaks. I think the compa...

Re: Seat Belts
The point of my post is to warn van drivers what's going on.
But like I said, probably pointless as this forum gets little interaction.

Re: Seat Belts
I didn't get away with it. Today it was spot the van driver wearing a belt not the other way round. Lorries it seems the same. My point is the technology is out there and they are using it to catch non wearers so be aware. The only trouble is it appears nobody uses or reads this site much these days...

Re: Seat Belts
Certainly not no . Since being done I have noticed many van drivers and lorries not wearing belts at traffic lights and in traffic cues so not 50 yards away from a drop. I have done multi drop in the past and very few drops are within 50 yards. In many cases the buildings are longer than 50 yards.

Re: hermes going under!!!!! please read
Talking of pay. I am a subbie. My main earner is a tail lift Luton but I have a Pug Bipper as well. I get the odd single drop run in the small van but due to all the singles I told the office I wanted 80 pplm. I had a call from the director and owner who stated....I understand you no longer do small...
Re: Hola!
Jeez, things must be bad out there !!
Re: Hello
Nothing comes up Alex so you have been smart bothered. For what it's worth the 70 quid is probably based on a 10 hour day minimum so below minimum wage especially if it creeps up to 11 or 12. You can only work 11 hours with 10 of that driving by law with discretionary breaks and 11 hours between shi...

Re: Fed up with Job and Courier Interests me but.....
If you like driving, consider taking hgv training. That should give you 20 k plus . To earn that as a courier takes some doing and I would advise against it.

Re: dpd driver, vat registrations? own van or leased van?
I thought it worth passing on my conversation with a dpd driver from Monday. I was getting a coffee from a BP garage and saw his uniform , he was grumbling to the sales asst about his day to come. How many drops you got ? I asked...97, he replied. In Banbury from Raunds depot, that's about 1.5 hours...

Re: E U in or out ?
The democratic system we have is asking us to decide on the EU. A very important decision for us to make. From a small cross section of people I am getting an out vibe both verbally and off forums etc. I am thinking what is going to drive people to vote yes or no ? Disenchantment or fear of the unkn...
