Hmm well we have all seen it or probably hade it happen to us but yesterday was my turn once again.
Driving down the M4 doing 52mph(yes I am captain slow) and this luton pulls out from the hard should without building up any speed he musthave been doing 5-10mph.
I just missed his rear with mm's to spare the artic behind me locked up, and slid up the inside of me onthe hard should, smoke everywhere, and this idiot in a luton totally oblivious to the near miss, god knows how we missed each other, it was very very close.
Even I pooped my pants |

Yesterday on the M40 on the Wycombe downhill section I witnessed (avoided) a ridiculous similar event.
With an artic lane 1 a few hundred metres behind me I saw a transit with hazards on the hard shoulder 400 metres in front and beyond him another vehicle parked up as well. It took me few seconds to realise the transit was pulling out on hazards directly into lane 1 Lucky for me lane 2 was clear, the transit was doing 20mph and wasn't picking up speed!
I floored it because I could sense what was coming.
Looking back the transit still hadn't picked up speed, and the artic didnt seem to be slowing or indicating
Then the artic started to imitate a bucking bronco all over lane1 and 2, how he kept it together I don't know. The transit pulled back onto the shoulder. |

It's crazy.
I've noticed alot of drivers are slamming there brakes on when there just about to exit the Motorway via the slip road almost like there thinking they should stop dead in the lane and giveway before turning off.
There's to many driving schools around these day's im thinking the quality of the Driving instructors/Examiners has gone way down. |

| I much prefer doing overnight runs because the only people on the road then are lorry drivers and me. All the people who shouldn't actually ever be given access to car keys are tucked up in bed. |

because its possible to drive on the hard shoulder on the M42......
do I win now because I have more rolly eyes or do I need more
I was merely pointing out (tongue in cheek mind) that because Ian is usually to busy thinking about how to not spend money on bulbs he could have forgot that in some circumstances you do indeed use the shoulder |

So one day, in the mists of time, I was running onto the M4 at Slough - roadworks, 50mph limit, lane shortened, and I had killed a van the previous week on the M404 by being squeezed in roadworks.
I hit 50, couldn't see enough, and pulled out anyway (because I got the earache the previous week, more than anything).
I offended a man in an artic sufficiently for him to overtake dangerously and pull in in a manner that threatened my life and livelihood.
I was entering the motorway at the speed limit - I could not have caused discomfort to anyone keeping within the law ...
After that, another wagon driver tried to sideswipe me, having noted that I was trying to write down details from truck no.1 whilst driving.
Knights or knightmares of the road? -
All I can say is those new design average speed cameras might save lives - simply because they could stop it happening again.
If only we could articulate that single brain cell ... |

| Sorry you were in the wrong regardless of whether others were exceeding the speed limit, it makes no difference what speed they were or wern;t doing you would have been the one which could have caused an accident, by not chexking it was safe to pull out. |
