I have been messing about with the free to use (until March 2010) upcoming Microsoft Windows 7 RC1.
It is based on Vista but is much much more slicker and less bloated. Very simple to instal and use.

Anyone had a go at this one? Cool

Well i was going to wait until it came out and had a few service patches available but it is tempting.

Ive heard it will have touch screen capabilities Question

If so a new generation of laptops should be around the corner...

Can you upgrade from windows vista to windows 7 premium? I've had all sorts of problems with vista and thinking of giving it up.
The reviews for windows 7 look good.

You can indeed upgrade from Vista to Windows 7, although both MS and I would recommend a "clean install".

Despite having a bad start Vista if using SP2 is actually not "too" bad these days as most problems are now fixed.

Why not try a Linux distro as a dual boot in your machine, to try it out?
I'ts free easy and can be undone if you don't like it.
Ubuntu can actually be installed WITHIN Windows if you wish (treated as another app in add/remove programmes). Therefore if you do not get on with it simply un- install as you are used to doing.

I've got XP home edition on my laptop but was thinking about getting a free mini laptop with 3 broadband. The Dell Mini 1012 has Windows 7 installed so I'll be leapfrogging Vista which I know isn't as good as XP

On the same subject, how does mobile broadband work? Is it case of the mobile dongle going through my phone? Can I also use it, without the dongle, wirelessly via a regular WiFi connection somewhere en route?

I have dropped a boob with my windows 7, this computer I bought a couple of months ago had only got the 60 day free version of Office, I must be going daft in my old age but never occurred to me that is was only a limited version. Luckily though I have found the full programme on DVD for £74, ah well you live and learn.....Doh............ Embarassed
