I once rode a moped from Keynsham to Leeds. The only easy part was the fuel - carried a plastic milk bottle full. The difficult part was frequent stops to de-coke the spark plug and reset the timing. And the a rse of course.

I had a 50 back in the day and went from Bristol to Chipping Norton to see a girl.

I used to carry a 10mm spanner for taking off the head and barrel so i could free off the rings and put some oil on them after it seized at fairly regular intervals of around 50 miles.

Yes, that must have been some time in the 80s, I wasn't fit enough to do the full 100 so I did the shorter route from the Bath start.

Poor girl must have been quite uncomfortable - presume the bike went alright though?

I think mine must have been 89 or 90, I made it all the way there (eventually) and came home in the B&W team van

It was a bit of a laugh, spending the day in a van sorting people out on route.

Food at the end and loading the bikes into trucks for the trip back to bristol & bath.

One guy who used to come in the shop did it in 4 hours, had a bite to eat and rode back to Bristol. :yikes:
