Break downs during delivery

Postby MetoyouNE » Sunday 18 February 2018, 13:46

Guys
Can anyone tell me what happens to your daily delivery if your vehicle breaks down or you have an accident during your run. Are you still responsible for getting the parcels delivered or would the main courier retrieve the parcels from you to be delivered by an emergency delivery driver.
I am just trying to get as much info on here as possible while I go through my CPC course and get things set up ready to start.
I already own my own short wheel based Citroen Relay van and looking at going self employed.
Any info is much appreciated.

If you are going with "Hermes Yodel etc", you will have to ask them.

You won't find many people on here recommending working for "Hermes, Yodel, etc ". You should read everything you can find about them on as many forums as you can.

Id definitely avoid Hermes, they are having a bit of trouble with unruly couriers taking them to a tribunal at the minute.
Have a good read through this forum www.lifestylecouriers.net/index.php
It also covers Amazon Flex, DPD, Yodel, UKMail and Sameday couriers.
So you should get a good idea who to avoid.

Thank you for getting back to me on the subject.
I appreciate the info given and I will look well into the companies before I commit myself

I'd say whoever got the job in the first place is responsible, be that yourself or the company you're subbing for

It is the responsibility of the person who took on the job. NOT the person/company who sold it.
However, usually the vendor will help sort something, out as it is in their interest to fulfil their customers' requirements.
